Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing process. It can relieve pain and promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues. It accomplishes this by releasing growth factors in the injured tissue. Shockwave therapy is sometimes referred to as EPAT, or extracorporeal pulse activation technology.

Shockwave therapy is a type of regenerative medicine, also known as an orthobiologic therapy. It is used to treat tendinopathy as well as difficult-to-heal ligament injuries. Our Shockwave therapy treatment sends shockwaves into the injured tissues, stimulating increased blood flow and growth hormones to the area, promoting new tissue growth. This non-invasive procedure represents a proven treatment option for a broad range of conditions and is extremely versatile. It is commonly used to treat cellulite, joint and musculoskeletal pain, erectile dysfunction, and to promote smoother results after liposuction or other procedures.

Some degenerative tendinopathies have an associated buildup of calcium in the tendon. Radial shock waves can break up those calcium deposits as well, thus promoting expedited healing.

While Shockwave therapy was originally developed to treat injuries and chronic pain in joints and muscles and to improve mobility and overall healing, many patients also saw a reduction in the appearance of cellulite in the treated areas.

Shockwave is used to treat cellulite wherever it appears on the body – especially on the outer and inner thigh area and buttocks. Shockwave is one of our most powerful techniques specifically for cellulite and works by sending pressure waves to the lower layers of tissue through a series of acoustic pulses that stimulate fat breakdown, collagen synthesis, and lymphatic drainage.

Shockwave therapy is also successfully used for Erectile Dysfunction or ED. During the treatment, we use targeted pain free sound waves to stimulate penile tissue and encourage blood flow. Low-intensity shockwaves have also been shown to grow new blood vessels and improve blood flow in the penis, which is essential for erections.

Our Shockwave therapy has proven to help men of all ages with the dramatic reduction of ED and can potentially eliminate the need for pills or other ED medications or devices.

Trigger Point Injections

With trigger point therapy, we target the areas of tension in your muscles, which we call trigger points, with injections that typically contain lidocaine, a corticosteroid, and saline. The lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic, goes to work immediately to quiet the irritated nerves in the area. At the same time, the steroid tackles the inflammation.

Together, the analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties allow your muscles to relax and the surrounding tissue, nerves, and blood vessels to function freely again. If you’d prefer not to have an anesthetic or corticosteroid, even dry needle injections can help relax your muscle knots.

This therapy is very effective at providing our patients with much-needed relief, as well as invaluable time to address the underlying issue. Your body uses this break from the tension to regenerate and repair damaged tissue.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) INJECTIONS

Our Nurse Practitioner may recommend using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for any injuries or damage to your tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints, and/or skin. Plasma is the liquid part of your blood that’s mostly made of water and protein. It lets red and white blood cells and platelets move through your bloodstream. Platelets are a type of blood cell that makes your blood clot. They also play a vital role in the  healing process.

PRP injections are used to treat torn tendons, tendinitis, muscle injuries, arthritis related pain, and joint injuries.

To collect plasma, we simply draw blood from your body and then use a centrifuge machine to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood. We then numb the body area being treated with the PRP injections. Once numbed, we inject your plasma into the injured area. As the platelets are injected into the area that’s being treated, they break down and release growth factors, which are compounds that help your cells repair and renew. This will trigger your body’s natural healing process providing relief of area pain while expediting recovery.

Stem Cell therapy

Stem cell therapy, is an innovative minimally invasive treatment that is part of the growing field known as regenerative medicine. Many musculoskeletal conditions caused by sports injuries and overuse can be treated with adult stem cell procedures. These procedures give your body the potential to heal itself naturally.

Stem cell therapy, also referred to as stem cell treatment or cell therapy, helps the body repair itself naturally. The cells neutralize inflammation and accelerate healing. They have the potential to regenerate injured cartilage tissue, tendons, bone, muscle, ligaments and vertebral annular disc cartilage.

To regenerate your body, stem cells find the damaged tissue and have the potential to initiate its repair or regeneration. The cells can stimulate your body’s own natural healing processes. This technique begins by harvesting a patient’s own stem cells found in bone marrow, concentrating the cells into a small injectable volume, and then reintroducing the cells into the area of concern.

Stem cell therapy has been proven to stimulate the body to repair and replace tissue that has broken down over time or has been traumatized from injury or overuse.
